Job Description

Corporate Associate – Cayman Islands. High-quality cross-border corporate/ private equity/ capital markets work. Outstanding tax-free salary.

This leading offshore law firm is looking for an experienced Corporate Lawyer to join its thriving Cayman Islands Corporate practice. The role will involve advising on the Cayman law elements of major cross-border transactions, with matters spanning mainstream corporate, M&A, joint ventures, private equity and equity capital markets (IPO’s/bonds/listings).

You can expect a workload that will turn-over quickly, with a greater number of technically complex but relatively short matters, and fewer of the document heavy deals that account for much of an onshore corporate lawyer’s practice. This also frees up the time to play an active role in a client facing capacity and all lawyers are encouraged to be pro-active in sustaining and developing client relationships, making this an ideal role for someone who is excited by the chance to begin building their network. Career development opportunities are strong, whether in Cayman or in another of the firm’s international offices.

  • UK/ Commonwealth admission.
  • 3+ pqe (required for work permit reasons); likely to suit someone in the range of 3-6 years’ pqe.
  • Relevant City/ International firm or equivalent corporate experience.
  • Excellent technical and communication skills with the adaptability to take on a diverse practice.

A pre-eminent global financial centre located just an hour from Miami, Grand Cayman offers you a Caribbean lifestyle with no compromise on quality of work, career progression or earning potential. In the office, you will advise international clients on high-value and complex matters, earning a lucrative tax-free salary. After hours, you live in a place that people spend thousands to visit. You can swim with sea turtles, stingrays or starfish, dive some of the world’s most interesting sites, socialise with friends in one of the many beachfront bars or restaurants, or just relax on the pristine sands of Seven Mile Beach. Check out our Cayman Guide for more information.

Expected range of US$140k-US$180k tax-free (equivalent UK gross salary of £180k-£236k) + benefits + relocation.

Interviews take place via videoconference for start dates typically between four and six months from application (depending on your notice period). Speak to Jason Horobin or Charlotte Hooper at Origin Legal for more information about this and similar international roles.
