Energy Law Jobs
Energy law, in terms of core legal disciplines, is a relatively new area of specialisation within the law, but one that is certainly set for significant growth and change over the coming years. Essentially, energy law covers all areas of renewable and non-renewable energy, including various aspects of law such as the use, taxation and extraction of both renewable and non-renewable energy sources as well as other areas of industry regulation. Energy law includes the legal provision for oil, gasoline, and ‘extraction taxes’ alongside the oversight of contracts for siting, extraction, licenses for the acquisition and ownership rights in oil and gas both under the soil before discovery and after its capture, sometimes covering adjudication regarding those rights. Solicitors and lawyers operating within the energy law sector will often work across both a national and international structure of legislation in what is a fast-moving and ever-changing area of law, as many laws have been passed to keep energy safe and to make the industry as environmentally friendly and efficient as possibly, particularly in areas of lowering carbon emissions.
