We are currently instructed on a standout Partner-level appointment with a highly regarded national law firm looking to expand its Commercial / Technology practice in the Thames Valley.
This is an exciting and strategic hire for the firm’s thriving Berkshire office, offering a genuine opportunity to help shape and lead the firm’s tech-focused legal services. You’ll work alongside an established General Commercial Partner and a wider national Commercial & IP team of over 30 lawyers, including multiple Legal 500-ranked practitioners.

You’ll lead on complex, high-value IT and technology transactions, work closely with a growing roster of dynamic clients in the tech, digital, and telecoms sectors, and play a key role in developing the firm’s future-facing commercial law offering.

Key Responsibilities:
- Act as lead advisor on complex commercial and technology contracts, outsourcing agreements, SaaS/PaaS models, and licensing arrangements.
- Provide expert advice on data protection, IP commercialisation, e-commerce, and digital compliance.
- Lead business development strategy for the Thames Valley tech sector, with support from national BD and marketing teams.
- Work in close partnership with a respected General Commercial Partner to further develop the regional and sector presence.
- Act as a mentor and leader to junior lawyers and associates within the commercial team.
- Collaborate with wider legal teams across Corporate, IP, Employment, and Data to deliver full-service solutions.
Candidate Profile:
We are seeking an ambitious, experienced commercial lawyer with:
- 8+ years’ PQE, ideally at Senior Associate or Partner level within a recognised commercial or tech practice.
- A strong track record advising on commercial and technology contracts, including software licensing, managed services, IT procurement, cloud services, and digital platforms.
- Working knowledge of data protection, cybersecurity, and IP licensing highly desirable.
- Strong relationship management skills with a proactive and commercial client-facing approach.
- The drive to take ownership of business development and contribute to firmwide growth.
- An interest in mentoring and supporting the development of junior team members.
