The Opportunity

An established and highly regarded national law firm is seeking an experienced lawyer to take ownership of its Employment & Immigration knowledge function.

This is a strategic leadership position for an individual who enjoys being at the forefront of legal developments, driving best practice, and helping lawyers deliver outstanding client service through knowledge, innovation and training.

You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, leading a team responsible for legal know-how, technical excellence, learning initiatives and the development of innovative solutions that support a growing national practice.

This role would suit an experienced Professional Support Lawyer, Knowledge Lawyer, or a senior Employment Solicitor looking to move away from fee earning while remaining closely connected to complex legal work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a specialist knowledge team supporting a national Employment and Immigration practice.
  • Oversee the creation, maintenance and evolution of precedents, practice notes, guidance materials and know-how resources.
  • Drive continuous improvement in legal knowledge management processes.
  • Monitor and communicate key legislative, regulatory and case law developments.
  • Deliver technical training, workshops and legal updates to lawyers and clients.
  • Work with innovation and technology teams to identify opportunities for automation and more efficient delivery of legal services.
  • Support thought leadership activities including articles, publications, webinars and market commentary.
  • Collaborate with partners and senior lawyers to enhance technical standards across the practice.
  • Contribute to onboarding programmes and ongoing professional development initiatives.
  • Act as a key internal point of contact for complex technical queries and emerging legal developments.

About You

You will be a qualified solicitor with significant experience in Employment Law, ideally with exposure to business immigration matters.

Suitable applicants may come from:

  • A Professional Support Lawyer or Knowledge Lawyer background.
  • A Senior Associate, Legal Director or Partner level position.
  • An in-house legal knowledge, training or legal operations role.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Strong technical expertise in employment law.
  • A genuine interest in legal innovation, technology and knowledge management.
  • Exceptional drafting and communication skills.
  • The ability to translate complex legal developments into practical guidance.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and a collaborative approach.
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring and developing others.

Why Consider This Role?

This is an opportunity to play a genuinely influential role within a successful and growing legal practice.

Rather than managing a fee-earning caseload, you will focus on:

  • Shaping legal strategy and best practice.
  • Influencing the future direction of the team.
  • Driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Supporting lawyers in delivering exceptional client outcomes.
  • Leading knowledge, learning and technical excellence initiatives across a national platform.
