Job Description

Investment Funds / Asset Management Associate – high-value international work with a leading offshore law firm. Cayman Islands. Outstanding tax-free salary.

The Cayman Islands is considered by many to be the world’s pre-eminent centre for offshore funds and its legal sector reflects this, with several firms fielding specialist investment funds teams that compare favourably with any in the onshore world. This role is with one such firm that is keen to build strength in depth through the addition of an experienced funds/ asset management lawyer. You will be advising large clients (e.g. hedge funds/ PE funds/ VC funds and their onshore advisers) on all aspects of Cayman funds law, from set-up, compliance and regulation, through operation, to restructuring or termination.

The workload will be fast paced, varied and technically challenging so this is not the role for someone looking to take a step down in quality and expectations. It will suit an ambitious lawyer who wants to work at the highest level but who is attracted by the many lifestyle and tax-benefits of life in the Cayman Islands. Experience gained here will be respected globally making this a sound long-term career move.

  • UK/ Commonwealth admission.
  • 3+ pqe (required for work permit reasons); likely to suit someone in the range of 3-6 years’ pqe.
  • Relevant City/ International firm or equivalent experience including some specialist exposure to investment funds work. Corporate lawyers with a genuine interest in the funds sector will also be considered.
  • Excellent technical and communication skills with the adaptability to take on a diverse practice.

A pre-eminent global financial centre located just an hour from Miami, Grand Cayman offers you a Caribbean lifestyle with no compromise on quality of work, career progression or earning potential. In the office, you will advise international clients on high-value and complex matters, earning a lucrative tax-free salary. After hours, you live in a place that people spend thousands to visit. You can swim with sea turtles, stingrays or starfish, dive some of the world’s most interesting sites, socialise with friends in one of the many beachfront bars or restaurants, or just relax on the pristine sands of Seven Mile Beach. Check out our Cayman Guide for more information.

We would anticipate a salary range of US$140k-US$180k tax-free (equivalent UK gross salary of £180k-£236k) + benefits + relocation.

Interviews take place via videoconference for start dates typically between four and six months from application (depending on your notice period). Speak to Jason Horobin or Charlotte Hooper at Origin Legal for more information about this and similar international roles.
