Job Description

A move to Guernsey can offer a junior banking and finance lawyer the opportunity to get hands on experience across a diverse range of complex international work, whilst enjoying a balance that is far removed from a comparable onshore law firm.

Joining a small team, you will get plenty of involvement and client contact from the outset, ideal if you want to fast-track your development. Working on high value matters for a global client base, you could find yourself advising on structured/leveraged finance, asset finance, real estate finance or more general banking work. This is high-quality experience that will serve as a fantastic platform for your career, whether you remain offshore or return onshore.

Requirements

  • Admitted in the UK, Ireland or an equivalent Commonwealth jurisdiction (such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada or South Africa).
  • This role is expected to suit someone with 1-3 years’ PQE.
  • Experience in banking and finance transactions gained with a good commercial law firm.

Package

  • Competitive salary (negotiable depending on experience), 20% tax rate.
  • Benefits and excellent bonus scheme.
  • Relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance).

Process

  • Interviews will take place by videoconference.
  • Start dates negotiable.
  • Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation.

The Channel Islands

For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big-ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.
