Birketts’ Race4Business

On Wednesday 12th June, a small team from Origin Legal attended the brilliantly organised 21st Birketts Race 4 Business which this year, was fundraising for Little Havens Hospice who are 'Making every day count' for young people with life-limiting or life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Starting in Chelmsford High St, the 3.5 mile course does a tour of the city parks finishing in the gardens of Birketts Chelmsford office. Excuses for lack of PBs were made early as the torrential rain during the day and less than promising forecast led us to think we should have turned up in wetsuits and swimming hats. However, at 6:00pm the weather gods provided some respite and the clouds cleared just in time for the organised warm up for the 793 entrants.

This year, Jason Nottage and Stuart Phillips represented team Origin. Despite years of injury and promising to have a steady jog round the course Jason ran “eyeballs out” and recorded a personal PB of 28:52 placing him in 350th position. Stuart went round in a time of 25:48 for 200th place, tactically finishing 2 seconds behind valued client Seamus Clifford of Ellisons!
