Sick of commuting to the city? Looking to further your legal career in a location that offers both city and rural aspects? We’ve outlined below why we think that Milton Keynes, would be the perfect place for you.
Milton Keynes offers both the old mixed with the new, the ‘New City’ designed in 1967, incorporates several medieval villages with Norman churches, village greens and thatched pubs, everything you would need to get your historic country fix. But it doesn’t just stop there, the region also includes a large indoor shopping mall anchored by John Lewis, M&S and Harrods, you can see why the main age range for the area is under 35. When visiting the area, you can also expect to enjoy many cultural highlights including the Milton Keynes Gallery and Theatre. With all these aspects it’s hardly surprising that so many legal professionals are choosing to relocate to the area.
There are a range of heavy weight firms based in the region including EMW, Freeths, Shakespears, Shoosmiths and Dentons. Just in the last year I have worked closely with these firms in placing some of the most sought-after lawyers, solicitors, associates, and paralegals.
It’s no wonder why so many successful lawyers are relocating to the region, with it’s incredible history and heritage, including places such as Woburn Abbey and Bletchley Park, there are many attractive attributes about Milton Keynes. The region includes extensive outdoor space, with 6,000 acres of rolling parks, complemented by 200 miles of dedicated away-from-road cycle paths. All of this beautiful countryside with also easy access to the city, with Euston being only 35 minutes away and easy access to the M1 and M40. Also being centrally positioned between Oxford and Cambridge (and on the new East-West rail link) to capitalise on the UK’s Silicon Valley opportunities. The region is benefitting from economical growth, with businesses ranging from tech start-ups all the way through to the national HQ for Santander and Network rail.
Over the past six months we have seen that Milton Keynes is experiencing a strong demand for Corporate and Commercial contracts solicitors both in Private Practice and In-house. Within Private Practice we are also experiencing a high demand for Real Estate lawyers with an increase in demand for development-based solicitors. If you’d like to know more about the different roles, we have available in Milton Keynes and surrounding areas please do get in touch, or check our roles here
I would also like to give thanks to James Geary of EMW, for his helpful input in this article.
