Job Description

This global offshore law firm has an opening in its Guernsey Litigation/ Dispute Resolution practice at Associate level. Joining one of the most respected teams on the island, you can expect some very interesting work.  Working closely with clients, including leading institutional and independent fiduciary businesses, you will be dealing with commercial litigation, restructuring and insolvency.  You will be working closely with Partners but will also have plenty of responsibility and client contact on what are typically, high-value and complex international matters. You will also benefit from being part of a growing team who are all pushing in the same direction, and with a clear path to career progression.

The Channel Islands

For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big-ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.

 Process

Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 3-4 months later (depending on your notice period). Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas (where required) and relocation.

Requirements

The role is likely to suit applicants with 1 to 4 years’ relevant experience of high-value commercial disputes, gained with a good UK law firm (or equivalent), or with another leading offshore practice. UK/Commonwealth/Irish qualifications are required.

Package

Good salary (expected range £75k-£95k) with reduced tax rate (20%). Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance).

Origin Legal International

Our team has 25 years’ experience of helping lawyers to make international and offshore moves. If you would like to find out more about this role or chat about an overseas move in general, please get in touch.
