Interviewing in this hot weather? Whether you’re meeting in person or online, here are a few tips that might help you keep your cool…
- Firstly, don’t worry. The interviewer knows it’s hot. They’ll understand if you turn up a looking little warm. It’s all about composure.
- Choose a professional outfit suitable for the firm/company culture, in breathable fabrics and lighter colours where possible. Jackets etc can be put on last minute, you don’t need to wear them for the whole journey.
- Stay hydrated. Drink water on your journey, and have some close by for an online meeting.
- Be cool. Allow plenty of time for your journey so you’re not rushing. Have tissues with you. Arrive 10-15 mins early so you can cool down on arrival.
- For online meetings, set up early to make sure everything’s working. Overheating laptops can be temperamental. Block out strong lighting. If you’re using a fan, think about noise and whether it’s giving your appearance wind-tunnel vibes.
A little prep can make a big difference, to help you stay focused on the conversation and not the temperature.
