Job Description

Commercial Litigation/ Dispute Resolution – Jersey Advocate preferred

Excellent career prospects – major offshore law firm – Jersey

DESCRIPTION:

This prestigious offshore law firm is looking for an experienced senior associate level commercial litigation lawyer as part of the succession planning for its highly respected Jersey Dispute Resolution team. You will be joining a high-performing group that maintains a collegiate culture in which lawyers are able to build a practice and develop their careers with the support of a strong team around them. The potential for progression to Partnership is excellent. The work will be high-value commercial litigation spanning mainstream contractual disputes, banking and financial services litigation, insolvency and, contentious trusts. Applications from Jersey qualified advocates are particularly welcome (and will be treated in the strictest confidence) but the firm will consider UK lawyers with very strong credentials.

CRITERIA:

UK/Commonwealth admission; admission as a Jersey advocate would be a distinct advantage but the firm is willing to consider very strong applicants without this. 6+ years’ pqe (for guideline purposes only – all suitably skilled applicants are welcomed). Relevant City/International/leading regional firm or equivalent experience

LOCATION:

The islands of Jersey and Guernsey might lack the exotic appeal of the Caribbean (for Brits at least) but when you are looking for somewhere to build a life and a great career, these world-class financial centres off the coast of North-Western France, have much to offer. The law firms are thriving, so opportunities abound, and career progression is as good as any market we work with. Lawyers here have a really nice work/life balance leaving ample time to enjoy island life, whether that is socialising in a waterfront bar, taking a clifftop walk, perfecting your surfing technique or just relaxing into the slower pace of life on offer. All within an hour of many UK airports.

SALARY:

Negotiable depending on experience – full benefits and relocation if applicable.

DETAILS:

The firm is actively seeking applicants and intends to interview suitable candidates in person if on island or via videoconference if not (after which you would be invited to the island for in-person meetings). We anticipate a start date between three and five months from application (depending on your notice period). Speak to Jason Horobin or Charlotte Hooper at Origin Legal.
