Legal Jobs in Hong Kong

If this is the ‘Asian Century’, where better to build your legal career than Hong Kong? A world-class financial centre that provides the natural junction between China and the global economy. This is one of the great ex-pat legal markets and every major international firm is represented here. The quality of work will be first-rate and your exposure to clients strong. Experience gained in this market will be valuable anywhere. Career moves don’t come much better.

In your spare time, you will have one of the world’s great metropolises on your doorstep. Hong Kong is a 24/7 city which runs at a pace and boasts a legendary nightlife. You won’t lack places to see or things to do. There are plenty of ways to pass a relaxed Sunday afternoon too, whether it is in the mountains overlooking the city or at one of the bays that fringe the island. If you need to get away from it all, its location puts most of Asia within short-break range.

The demand for lawyers in Hong Kong is dominated by corporate, funds, finance and dispute resolution, although in a mature market like this, jobs come up in all practice areas. There is a strong leaning in onshore law firms towards people with Mandarin language skills; less of a requirement for most offshore firms which makes this an increasingly popular move for English speaking lawyers.

There is a lot to consider in any international career move and many lawyers find that it pays to have the experts on your side. The international team at Origin Legal has been working in the Hong Kong market for many years and can advise you on every step of the process. Testimonials

"Jason really is outstanding.  He helped place me in the perfect firm for me; his reading of the firm's culture and fit was second to none.  His in-depth and hands on knowledge of the offshore legal world was a welcome support and he was responsive and engaging throughout - no question was too small (or daft!).  He made the move offshore a genuine pleasure and helped manage a really smooth transition and process, from initially being put forward for the role to starting.  I will be recommending Jason to anyone considering a move offshore - he's the "go to" in my eyes." - Associate, Cayman Islands

"Jason was incredibly helpful, reliable and proactive.  He put so much thought into enhancing my application and assisting with interview preparation.  He’d promptly seek feedback to share with me as soon as he could, which was very welcome after an interview!  I can’t recommend him and his team enough if you’re looking for a new role as their wealth of experience places you in safe hands." - Associate, Guernsey

"Jason is by far the best recruiter I have ever worked with and his key strength is that he is genuinely open and honest with candidates. I've worked with recruiters before who I felt were willing to push me into roles that weren't suited to me and Jason stood out because I trusted his advice completely. Thanks to Jason I was able to secure a great position in the Cayman Islands and I haven't looked back since!"
