Job Description
Corporate Lawyer / Banking Lawyer – Senior Associate – Global offshore law firm – British Virgin Islands (BVI)
DESCRIPTION:
This multi-office offshore law firm is looking for a senior corporate/banking associate to join its growing team in the British Virgin Islands. The role will entail advising on the BVI aspects of major cross-border deals, spanning mainstream corporate, investment funds, and banking and finance work. It will be ideal for someone who enjoys fast-paced and varied work and who thrives in a client-facing capacity. The firm is ambitious and is looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to play a significant part in the development of its business in BVI.
CRITERIA:
- Admitted in England & Wales
- Likely to suit someone with 6+ years’ pqe and capability to take a lead role on transactions
- Relevant City/International firm or equivalent experience ideally including corporate and banking
LOCATION:
For some, the BVI is the pick of the Caribbean. A mountainous, rain forested interior surrounded by picture postcard bays, it is probably not far from the idyllic image that might cross your mind when you ponder whether there is ‘more to life’. It’s not for everyone. You will need to be comfortable with a slower pace, you will see its remoteness as a gift rather than an inconvenience, and you will be the sort of person who gets more out of sailing, diving or lolling on the beach than you do from the buzz of city life. If that’s you, you will love it here. Not to mention that the work, much of it emanating out of China/Asia, is some of the most interesting and challenging in the sector.
SALARY:
Negotiable depending on experience, low tax (c.8%), benefits, relocation
DETAILS:
The firm is actively seeking applicants and intends to interview suitable candidates via videoconference. We anticipate a start date between four and six months from application (depending on your notice period). Speak to Jason Horobin or Charlotte Hooper at Origin Legal.
