Job Description
Corporate Lawyer / Banking & Finance Lawyer – Associate (2-6 years’ pqe) – Global offshore law firm – Channel Islands
DESCRIPTION:
This elite offshore law firm fields one of the strongest transactional teams in the Jersey market. It advises an outstanding client base of global banks, financial institutions and corporations, and their onshore law firms, on a broad range of offshore corporate, M&A, private equity and banking and finance work. Its lawyers, many ex-City/international firms, benefit from exposure to some great work, a collegiate environment which encourages client relationship building, and a work-life balance that elsewhere, is unheard of in a firm of this calibre. It is busy and keen to add strength in depth through the addition of at least a couple of good transactional associates.
CRITERIA:
You will have UK/ Commonwealth admission and are likely to be in the 2-6 years’ pqe range (for guideline purposes only – all suitably skilled applicants are welcomed). General corporate or banking experience is of interest but lawyers with more specific transactional skill sets who are happy to consider a broader practice are also encouraged to apply.
LOCATION:
The islands of Jersey and Guernsey might lack the exotic appeal of the Caribbean (for Brits at least) but when you are looking for somewhere to build a life and a great career, these world-class financial centres off the coast of North-Western France, have much to offer. The law firms are thriving, so opportunities abound, and career progression is as good as any market we work with. Lawyers here have a really nice work/life balance leaving ample time to enjoy island life, whether that is socialising in a waterfront bar, taking a clifftop walk, perfecting your surfing technique or just relaxing into the slower pace of life on offer. All within an hour of many UK airports.
SALARY:
Expected salary circa £80k-£110k depending on experience, 20% tax rate, benefits, relocation
DETAILS:
The firm is actively seeking applicants and intends to interview suitable candidates via videoconference initially after which you will be invited to the island for in-person meetings. We anticipate a start date between three and five months from application (depending on your notice period). Speak to Jason Horobin or Charlotte Hooper at Origin Legal.
