Job Description

We are now instructed on a new Commercial Litigation role based in Surrey.

The Role

We are looking for a technically strong, personable, versatile, commercially minded and ambitious lawyer, looking to pursue a career in commercial litigation outside of London in the long-term.

The commercial litigation team is part of the wider dispute resolution group. It handles a range of complex litigation and international arbitration. It also provides strategic advice on claims avoidance and risk management. It is described in Chambers UK as “diligent, thorough, realistic and outcome focused”.

The work of the team is diverse but key areas are:

  • contract litigation
  • company and partnership disputes, including shareholder litigation;
  • fraud;
  • insurance;
  • claims for injunctive relief;
  • IT;
  • Professional negligence.

The team’s client base is diverse and ranges from household name PLCs, mid-tier businesses (quoted and owner-managed), international companies and high net worth private clients. Stevens & Bolton LLP has a large amount of international work and the commercial litigation team is no exception, frequently handling or coordinating cases with an international element and working with overseas lawyers. The team also works closely with other areas of the firm on contentious matters.

Qualifications and Experience

You will be a strong team player with good interpersonal skills, good academics and high-quality experience – typically with a major City or leading national/regional practice – who has a commercial approach and excellent technical, communication and negotiation skills.

They offer excellent supervision, mentoring and training, but expect all team members to take responsibility at an early stage and to want to be stretched and challenged. An appetite for business development will be a definite advantage.
