Job Description
Our prestigious client now seeks an ambitious and skilled commercial litigator to join our thriving commercial litigation team. This exciting opportunity is well-suited for candidates with approximately NQ-4 years of PQE (although exceptions may be considered), gained in a City firm or a prominent national or regional practice.
Based from their state-of-the-art offices in the heart of Surrey they offer fully flexible hybrid work arrangements. Most team members choose to spend an average of 2-3 days per week in the office. Whilst we advertise this role as full-time position, part-time candidates will also be considered.
The team comprises four partners and eleven other lawyers, making them one of the largest contentious law practices in the South East, outside London. They continue to earn top-tier rankings in Chambers and Legal 500, and are recognized as a National Leading Practice in Chambers.
Handling a diverse range of contentious work for various clients, ranging from individuals and owner-managed businesses to well-known PLCs. A significant portion of their work involves international cases, necessitating close collaboration with law firms in other jurisdictions. Beyond handling complex High Court litigation and international arbitration, they also provide strategic advice on claims avoidance and risk management.
The commitment to team development is evident through our solicitor advocates, CiArb members, and qualified mediators. They offer excellent support, learning opportunities, and early responsibilities. Successful candidates often work directly with partners, taking charge of case progression and contributing to larger team efforts.
Qualifications and Experience:
You will be an enthusiastic individual with a passion for various aspects of commercial dispute resolution work. Strong experience in commercial contract disputes is advantageous, as is an appetite for business development. The ideal candidate should:
- Be a collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Possess strong academic credentials and high-quality experience, typically with a City or leading national/regional practice.
- Demonstrate concise and confident communication abilities.
- Exhibit excellent technical skills, drafting capabilities, and attention to detail.
- Be highly motivated and dependable.
- Work effectively both independently, managing cases with minimal supervision, and as part of a larger team.
- Show commercial acumen.
- Interact confidently and personably with clients, providing exceptional client service.
- Express a keen interest in business development within the team and the wider firm.
Diversity and inclusion are central to the firm’s values, encouraging everyone to realize their full potential and be themselves at work.
They also embrace an agile working model that offers flexibility and enriches everyone’s lives. The office provides a modern and adaptable work environment, fostering collaboration, teamwork, and social interaction. Additionally, they equip our team members with the necessary IT infrastructure and support for seamless remote work.
