Job Description

Commercial Litigation / Dispute Resolution Associate – Cayman Islands. Broad range of high-value contentious work. Solicitor or Barrister. Outstanding tax-free salary.

DESCRIPTION:

The offshore litigation market continues to be busy, with the leading firms all seeing a consistent flow of high-value cross-border disputes, nowhere more so than in this global outfit with a strong reputation in Cayman. An opening exists for a mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate to take on a key role working closely with a senior Partner. The work will be varied, spanning everything from mainstream commercial litigation and shareholder/JV disputes through to insolvency, and specialist banking and financial services litigation (including contentious trusts and distressed funds). It will be ideal for someone who enjoys complex high-quality work but who is attracted by a greater amount of variety. You will enjoy enough autonomy and client contact to really build your experience, whilst there will be plenty of scope for getting involved in business development initiatives. It’s a nice team, it’s a beautiful island, and the role offers good scope for progression.

CRITERIA:

  • UK/ Commonwealth admission – Solicitor or Barrister.
  • 3+ pqe (required for work permit reasons); likely to suit someone in the range of 3-6 years’ pqe.
  • Relevant City/ International firm or Commercial chambers experience.
  • Excellent technical and communication skills with the adaptability to take on a diverse practice.

LOCATION:

A pre-eminent global financial centre located just an hour from Miami, Grand Cayman offers you a Caribbean lifestyle with no compromise on quality of work, career progression or earning potential. In the office, you will advise international clients on high-value and complex matters, earning a lucrative tax-free salary. After hours, you live in a place that people spend thousands to visit. You can swim with sea turtles, stingrays or starfish, dive some of the world’s most interesting sites, socialise with friends in one of the many beachfront bars or restaurants, or just relax on the pristine sands of Seven Mile Beach. Check out our Cayman Guide for more information.

SALARY:

We would anticipate a salary range of US$140k-US$180k tax-free (equivalent UK gross salary of £180k-£236k) + benefits + relocation.

DETAILS:

Interviews take place via videoconference for start dates typically between four and six months from application (depending on your notice period). Speak to Jason Horobin or Charlotte Hooper at Origin Legal for more information about this and similar international roles.
