Job Description
This prestigious offshore law firm is looking for an experienced banking and finance lawyer to take on a lead role in its fast-growing Guernsey team. This could be an ideal fit for an ambitious lawyer who wants to do high-quality international banking and finance transactions, but who is attracted, outside of work, to the more relaxed coastal lifestyle that comes with island living. As well as taking a lead on matters you will also play an active role in the team’s ongoing business development efforts as well as helping to mentor and supervise more junior colleagues. Opportunities for progression all the way through to Partnership are excellent.
The Channel Islands
For a city-based lawyer who thrives on big-ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue-chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work-life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.
Process
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 3-4 months later (depending on your notice period). Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas (where required) and relocation.
Requirements
You are likely to be UK/Commonwealth qualified with at least 3 years’ relevant experience of high-value banking and finance work and strong client facing skills. General banking and finance experience would be ideal but lawyers with specialist experience (e.g. structured, leveraged, asset, real estate finance) who are happy to take on a broader workload, would also be a good fit.
Package
Good salary (likely to be in the range of £85k-£110k) with reduced tax rate (20%). Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance).
Origin Legal International
Our team has 25 years’ experience of helping lawyers to make international and offshore moves. If you would like to find out more about this role or chat about an overseas move in general, please get in touch.
