Browse our Legal Jobs directoryOur client wishes to recruit a first class litigator who is able to provide first rate client service on a range of contentious matters for the firms clients across a wide range of sectors Responsibilities will include all apsects of case management (statements, instructions to counsel, trial preparation, engaging with experts) and plenty of exposure to clients The candidate will be expected to contribute to the strategic direction of cases and to work pro-actively to drive them forward. On some matters the recruit will be the lead lawwer and be expected to work with minimal partner supervision The candidate will be expected to play a key role in budgeting and managing financial performance on cases that he/she is working on Assisting the team grow its profile internally and externally through focussed business development activities, including in particular helping to make the most of the firms substantial client base Mentoring and acting as a role model for more junior members of the team The successful candidate will have worked for a recognised City litigation practice with good general experience of commercial litigation and be used to playing the Lead Associate role on complex high value litigation and be someone who can step into the partners shoes when required. Evidence of plenty of direct exposure to clients / counsel / experts will be required Experience of mediation and arbitration as well as High Court litigation is essential Some evidence of exposure to international disputes will be expected Some exposure to business development activities and a good understanding of how to win work in expected. A network of contacts will be assumed although at this level there is obviously no expectation of the recruit bringing work with him / her Must be able to operate at a fast pace in a vibrant open plan environment Strong communication and client handling skills are essential Profit - Drives business development with minimal supervision - Introduces clients to other teams or practice groups - Delegates effectively to junior colleagues - Has initiated or made strong contribution to marketing events / activities Clients - Receives praise and positive feedback from clients - Builds effective relationships with existing and new clients - Shows good technical knowledge across specialist practice areas Behaviour - Takes a key role in managing complex projects / transactions within practice area - Communicates confidently and effectively in a range of business situations. - Complies with quality systems and risk management procedures People - Evidence of a team based approach - Invests time in other aspects of the business, eg training, recruitment, secondment, corporate responsibility activites etc - Supports and coaches others
